Taste & Technique: Recipes to Elevate Your Home Cooking is a fantastic cookbook that N and I just got. It is written by Naomi Pomeroy who won the James Beard Award for Best Chef Pacific Northwest in 2014. The book is rich with detailed pictures and instructions. It is really an excellent addition to our collection.
This is the cover, the beautiful photography seen here is continued throughout the book with each recipe and on every page. N always says that he can’t get excited about new recipes without a visual. Well, he got excited with this cookbook. Not only that but we made two recipes from the cookbook the day after we got it, they both delicious, and both of them looked exactly like their photo! For us that is huge! Often cookbooks will have fabricated images that look nothing like the actual finished product. That is not the case with this cookbook at all! Beautiful photos and clear and easy to follow instructions that lead to delicious beautiful food.
This is not a one pot cookbook or a quick and easy cookbook. This is a cookbook that will teach you new techniques that will allow you to elevate your cooking and advance your palate. The two recipes that we tried involved several new techniques that allowed us to learn a few new tricks. It helped us to develop a richness of flavor as well as a depth and complexity. We are very excited to try more recipes.
I received this book from the Blogging for Books program in exchange for this review.
