Yogurt Bowls

The week after I gave birth to Baby E, a friend of ours brought over yogurt bowls for us to enjoy as a healthy and filling snack.

We had never had a yogurt bowl before and we fell in love. Ever since then we have been having fun with yogurt bowls. It is so versatile, healthy and delicious! Below is more of a guide than a recipe. But this is how I make it and we enjoy it so much.

Yogurt Bowls

Ingredients

  • Yogurt

Start with unsweetened, plain yogurt. I use Fage and absolutely love it. Any yogurt will work. I use the plain flavor since it has no added sugar, and has a strong delicious tangy taste. The Greek yogurt has the added creaminess that really holds up well to the fruit and crunch elements.

  • Sweetener (optional)

I add a drizzle of good honey. This gives the yogurt a touch of sweetness while still ensuring a healthy snack and not too much sweetness.

  • Fruit

I add an assortment of fruit. Whatever I have in the house and am in the mood for. In the past I have used grapes, pineapple, nectarine, mango, plum, grapefruit, kiwi, berries and more. Fresh fruit is best, but with things like peaches and pineapples, I have used canned fruit in 100% juice with no added sugar.

  • Crunch

I add an element of crunch to give a variety of textures to the bowl. I have used granola and nuts so far with great success.

  • Seeds

The final ingredient is seeds. This is a great way to add some healthy seeds to your diet. I have used chia. But these days my main seed addition is Hemp hearts.
