We took a break from running last week, since we were on vacation in Vegas. But we were all set to go for a scheduled long run this week. So yesterday was week 8 for training for the Disney Princess Half marathon. However, N and I are two weeks ahead so we have some extra time if needed. So we were up to week 10 on the training schedule.
Due to scheduling conflicts with a Chanukah party, we didn’t have time to go the NCR trail. So instead we ran by our house. Which is super hilly. And we didn’t get up as early as we should have, and meant to. So we didn’t really have enough time.
Sadly, we decided to cut it short at 7.35 miles. I was really struggling with all of the hills and lack of energy. It was super sad. I felt bad for N, he was all set to go the full 9.5 but I just couldn’t do it.
My lack of energy combined with a super short time and the fact that the party was with N’s family and I needed to shower before we went made me call for an early stop. I am extremely disappointed. If we had more time, I could have refueled with energy bars, dug deep, and made it happen. But with the circumstances. I gave up. This is the first time that I have not completed a scheduled long run.
Hopefully we can get back on track, but for now, I am really disappointed with myself.
Good for you on being 2 weeks ahead! I did skip last week’s training because I was in Disney world and just didn’t have the time to fit it in. But I’m getting back on track this week!
